American Family Association’s Lack of Integrity

This one is just too good to pass up. The American Family Association is an anti-gay group with some of the most conservative beliefs out there - socially speaking, of course. As part of their agenda for mischaracterizing gay people everywhere they have decided to replace the word “gay” in every media story and press release they get with the word “homosexual.”

Recently American Tyson Gay qualified to represent the USA in the upcoming summer games. When the story was released, AFA and their news website, OneNewsNow picked up the story and published it - after editing it of course. Now Mr. Tyson Gay was Mr. Tyson Homosexual.

Several LGBT websites picked up on this, as did the Washington Post. You can check some of them out below:

Now, if you are going to publish someone else’s work, I don’ t have a problem with editing for length, but to literally change the words brings up issues of integrity in my opinion. Anyone who is browsing through the AFA or ONN websites already knows what they think of homosexuality. How can you trust anything they publish? They could very easily apply the same tactics to other stories, and if ONN is the only website someone visits, they will never know the truth. Geez, AFA I would think that you would know this jeopardizes your credibility!

As Forrest Gump says, “Stupid is as stupid does.”

And I seriously hope that the AFA doesn’t think the word “homosexual” offends me. It accurately describes me as a male who has sexual attractions to other males. It’s a scientific word. I guess the AFA doesn’t realize that since it is a scientific term, there has probably been a lot of scientific research about homosexuality - which also probably indicates there is a scientific explanation for why homosexuality occurs in nature and society, and that it isn’t a choice.

To close, I’d just like to offer my congratulations to Mr. Gay for his accomplishment.

This is sooo funny! I remember reading about this athlete, but I never imagined the AFA could get this far. I do wonder however, can anyone who’s last name is Gay, be a member of the AFA?
